Well, they sure would have looked cute at Moscow's Renaissance Fair this year but it was not meant to be.
Ishmael had us pretty scared but he finally decided to start eating again on Thursday, however, we still thought it best not to go any where. He still isn't eating a great deal but he does seem much better. I put a heating pad under the crib where the cats sleep and some food and water and he seems to be enjoying his convalescing space.
I spoke to my mother on the phone the other day and got irritated with her and hung up rather abruptly on her. She made some comment about how there are other cats in the world, so I just said, "well that was a really nice thing to say, I'm going now, bye-bye". Then she sent me a really bizarre "apology" email which also implied that perhaps I was just being cruel and selfish for trying to make my sick cat well and gee, wouldn't the kids sure like a new kitten better?. Perhaps she didn't understand that the cat just had pneumonia for christ sake, which is very treatable with simple antibiotics.... but I think it's more that she was irritated that we weren't coming out for the weekend because of "some stupid cat". I guess perhaps she thought we should just go put it to sleep so that it wouldn't inconvinence her plans for the weekend? Whatever it was, her insensitivity is astonding. I shouldn't be so offended, it's not like her remarks were really all that surprising, I just thought she had evolved some in the past few years. Perhaps not. Either way, I don't really feel like discussing it with her and infact, we should probably just not discuss pets at all in the future. Next time a cat is sick I'll just make something else up to tell her.
I finally got Margo to take a nap today! She wouldn't go down at the usually time, so we got up and then she had a big poop, so I guess that was what was going on. Jon took Sollie downtown to see a puppet show and I was suppose to have some quiet time but Margo had some other plans for me, well I guess they're not home yet, so I should do some quick meditation....
