It seems as if I was just complaining that no one made sweet innocent kid's movies any more. I thought perhaps the Alvin and the chipmunks movie might be something I could take Solomon to see in the theaters but then I read the reviews and watched a clip and decided it was too adult for him, too 8 year old boy humor.
Then I saw an ad for the Veggie Tales movie, "The Pirates Who Don't Do Any Thing". Is this my answer? Well, I'm conflicted. I'm looking online trying to find out more about it. We received a Veggie Tales video from MOPS, which I won't go into right now but that didn't go down very well with me... I got rid of the video but it wasn't that bad... I just didn't like the bible preaching to my child and the God references, which were subtle but there. It would be nice if they could make something sweet and innocent for ALL children not only Christian children.
So I was thinking for a theater released movie they surely have cut all the God stuff, right? Which I'm having a hard time figuring out by reading reviews of the movie on line. Here's my conflict: even if they have cut the overt Christian references in the movie to make it more appealing to all audiences, do I want to support this Christian based Veggie Tales company? Should I be encouraging them?
What's a mom to do?
