Well the inevitable finally happened, Solomon broke his arm yesterday after school. I was letting him blow off a little steam before walking home on the play structure at school. He was running around playing tag with some other kids when I heard him screaming and saw him lying in the wood chips. First let me clarify something, Sollie screams about everything. He screams when he stubs his toe or gets a scrape. All his screams have the same intensity, it's impossible to tell if he's actually hurt himself or not. I went over to him, checked him out. I had him wiggle his fingers, move his arm, etc... all seemed fine. So I got him relatively calmed down and we walked home. Well he screamed the entire way home, at the top of his lungs, he screamed, "OW, IT HURTS!". He was still blubbering, whimpering and refusing to move it a half and hour and a little t.v. time later.... at this point I started to worry.
Jon came home and we debated whether or not to take him to the ER. I called the nurse at his pediatricians office and decided to keep it immobilized and wait until morning. Jon spent the day driving him around from one place to another. He eventually got a caste on it some time after lunch. He's not suppose to get it wet, at all, for three weeks. I'm not sure how that is going to work. Three weeks and nothing but a sponge bath for a six year old.... ugh.
He's handling it well, although he said he doesn't want to go back to school until it feels better. Poor little monkey boy : (

Hi Kassie,
I miss you! And my oldest misses Sollie! Anyway, I had a broken arm when I was a kid too. We put a plastic bag or 2 over the arm so that I could take a bath. At least then I could be in the bathtub and keep my arm out of the water somewhat safely.
Good Luck!
Jennifer
Hi Jennifer! I miss you guys too. I can't believe how fast the summer went by. I'd love to try and get the kids together. Of course now we have the school schedule to work with. school has been going pretty well actually. It's an arts school, so he actually has dance class and music a couple times a week, which I'm happy about. His teacher doesn't skimp on recess either! Yeah for that.
I'll have to try and talk Jon into the bath thing, they had him pretty scared about getting it wet at all.
Are you on FB?
Kassi
