Mira had her six month check-up today and is doing great. Although, compared to her sister and her brother she's the light one. She was 16 pounds and 9 ounces today. Margo was 18 pounds at her six month and Sollie was 22 pounds and 6 ounces! Jon said she's the normal one!
She's a busy little girl, she's constantly kicking her legs when held or trying to get on her knees and crawl when she 's on the ground. She's grabbing things like crazy and is in the dangerous coffee drinking phase because she can get a very strong grip on things and send them flying.
Her favorite thing right now is paper. She loves the sound of it and she loves eating it.
She's very mercurial lately, swinging from happy and laughing to screaming... my guess is it's her teeth. Nothing has popped out yet though.
Solomon is counting down the days to get his cast off and is enjoying school. He's very interested in sounding out letters and learning to read right now. He's in the Kindergarten reading program at school but is catching up very quickly. His teacher told me she didn't think it would be very long before he's in the regular first grade reading group. Which just confirms my belief that kid's learn when they are ready to learn. There's a couple of other kids from his class in the kindergarten group and a few more in a remedial type of group... I'm not sure what they call it. I'm pretty sure all of those kids were at full-day Kindergarten last year. Any way, I have no regrets about homeschooling him last year and skipping the academics.
He is really enjoying all the arts his school offers right now. He has music a couple of times a week as well as dance. He's always very excited about these things and tells me all about what they did.
I started volunteering in his classroom last week. I'll be there every Friday morning. I only see Sollie for a little bit before he goes off to the library and then to his reading group. It was fun helping out, even if Mira was being a little fussy last week.
Margo is getting ready to celebrate her fourth birthday soon. She's very excited. She's her usual sassy self. She's enjoying her time to play by herself and have play dates with her friends. She's very into playing horsey right now. We had a couple of friends over yesterday and made some horse harnesses for them to use in their play.
Everything is going well. We've had some extraordinary fall days and we've enjoyed doing a lot of walking to and from schools and around town.
I'm working on "project droolie bib" right now. I pulled out a bunch of left-over fabric in too small to do anything with pieces and cut them out into bib sizes. I bought some chenille for the backs and I need to cut those out... then I will sew them together and add snaps. This should hopefully keep her shirts from being soaked this winter and keep her chest dry and rash free.
I'll post pictures when I get them done.
