We are back from Orcas Island. We always have such a nice time there. This time we found a very private house to rent a couple miles down the road from Doe Bay. The view was amazing! The house was very comfortable and kid friendly. We enjoyed playing on our own private little beach (which was only accessible during low tide), playing croquet in the lawn (Sollie especially loved this), going for hikes up the road and exploring the woods behind the house. We liked "hiking" up Mt. Constitution and finding fairy and forest family homes along the way. We had a great time swimming in the lake and hiking around the lake. We actually got Margo to hike about a mile and half, which is good for her! The kid's loved the Fun House and playing on the play structure with all the other kids at the lake. I loved the view, the cinnamon rolls at Cafe Olga, yoga class and soak in tub at Doe Bay. Also open-mid/ pizza night at Doe Bay was a lot of fun. Margo danced with the general manager's daughter Penelope, who also had a fixation with holding Mira and came back to our table every few minutes to ask if she could hold her again. Mira was very agreeable.
After the initial shock of there being no t.v. ( we don't have cable and don't watch a lot of t.v. any way but I think the idea that it wasn't even an option was a little shocking to the kids), they relaxed and enjoyed the games they made up to play together. The living room became a fort with all the pillows from the couches- good thing it was a nice big living room. There was also a lot of puzzles and books already at the house. Sollie had a great time playing a game called traffic, he love math/puzzle games.
I'm going to try to upload a few pictures while Mira naps.
