Okay, so I'm on FB and I see this ad for a t.v. show staring Holly Hunter and I wonder how old she is now. As I'm nearing my 39th birthday I've suddenly become obsessed with age- not just my own mortality and that of others I know, which is weighing heavily on my mind... but just how I will age, how my face will change. Faces don't really change much in your 20's and 30's but after you hit 40 your skin really starts to show the signs of age by not bouncing back so much, so to speak.
So to answer my question Holly Hunter is 51! Remember the show "The Golden Girls" ? Here's a write up about that show: "The Golden Girls, which ran on NBC from 1985 until 1992, centers around four women all near or above the age of 50." So all those woman who looked like, well old ladies were around the same age as Holly Hunter.
I'm not sure where I'm going with this; just an observation.

Oh! Happy Birthday Annabelle! How are you doing with it? Is it weird?
Hopefully I'm getting all my freaking out about it done with so I can turn 40 more gracefully.
I was watching "Weeds" the other night and was wondering how old Mary Louise Parker is- she's 45 and not a wrinkle on her face. While I'm glad that late 40's and 50's are no longer being portrayed like little old gray headed women, it also kind of pisses me off that woman like Holly Hunter and Mary Louise Parker are what we see on t.v., as if a wrinkle free face at 50 is realistic.
I some how need to be okay with the fact that my face is going to start showing the signs of age by wrinkling and watching these woman who have access to things like chemical peels and botox doesn't help. Not that I would want to do that if I could but I think every one at least wants to look "good" for their age, not older!
