Disneyland trip

So, there's a reason why so many people love to take their kids to Disneyland... it's fun! There I said it. It's fun because of the nostalgia but also because it's just so kid-friendly. The majority of the rides are designed for the entire family to go on, even baby. Which is pretty amazing considering they are actually fun and interesting. I sort of forgot about how simple and cool it is to ride a little car through a story set. It's a fairly simple concept but they do it well. Especially with Pirates of Caribbean and Small World. Mira loved Small World, as did the other two kids. There's just so much to look at and it was all done up for the holidays, so it was even cooler. Especially since they mixed the song with Jingle Bells and something else... I forgot how cool Pirates is because it's so huge! They totally transform the place so that you're in the middle of some ships shooting cannons at each other, that's just so cool. It's like being in the middle of a movie set. Mira even liked Pirates- nothing is really very scary, which is also why it's so kid-friendly.

We got there Friday afternoon and it was a gorgeous day and it was really nice to be there at night, with all the lights. Although I must say when we first walked in there was some Disney Channel parade thing going on and it was so super cheesey that I burst out laughing. We headed over to Fantasy Land though and I immediately felt better about our decision to go there.

Saturday we spent the day and didn't really get bored at all or tired, which was good. Grammy joined us as well as Grandma T who met us at the airport and was with us Friday night as well.

We then took a break on Sunday and headed for the beach, Laguna Beach. We had some great breakfast and sat on the beach and enjoyed the weather before it turned bad. It was fabulous while it lasted. Our hotel had a great view of the ocean, which was very relaxing. The kids were in cable t.v. heaven and got to watch some Disney Channel shows! Hey, that's who Mikey Mouse is! All that night the stormed roared but it was actually nice to listen to. The kids went swimming in the covered pool the next day and we went out to eat and actually caught a break in the storm for a nice walk. The next morning we got up bright and early and headed back over to Disneyland.

It was a little wet but we were managing okay until another storm hit with some serious rain and not very many places to duck for cover, so we ended up eating at the only "fine dining" establishment in the park, the "Blue Bayou". Very over-priced but you can't beat the atmosphere- it's actually inside Pirates of the Caribbean! We were almost done eating (or I was any way) when the fire alarm went off and they evacuated every one. I went to stand under the bride, out of the rain with the baby, even though they were trying to usher us some where else. Jon looked at me and said, "you know, this is going to take forever and we don't have that much time left". I thought about it for a second, they must have had to turn off all the stoves and ovens, etc... who knows how long it would take them to get every thing up and running and I'd had enough to eat.... so we left! Dine and ditch, hahaha. I haven't done that.... oops did I say that? Okay, I did that once in college. So we left that area, which was flooded and mostly shut down and went on a couple more rides before heading to the airport.

All in all and very good time! Would I take my kids to Disneyland again? Why, yes, yes, I would. And I'm not even very ashamed to admit it....
