Long Weekend in Bend, OR

We just returned last night from a long weekend in Bend. We took Solly out of school early on Thursday and headed down. Originally he was supposed to have Friday off school but it became a make-up snow day. Margo still had it off and we took it any way. Both kids didn't have school yesterday. We decided to leave on Thursday and drive half way there. We stopped at the Edgefield McMinamin's We enjoyed the soaking pool and then had dinner in the little movie theater. Which actually worked pretty well with all three kids. I just distracted Mira for the scary parts. Friday we had a nice breakfast and then headed down to Bend. We walked around downtown Bend and had lunch before heading out to Seventh Mountain Resort The resort has heated outdoor pools, including a toddler wading pool that only went to 2 feet! The pools were around 90 degrees and then there were three hot tubs as well! Sweet! The website said there were heated outdoor pools but we had no idea there would be so many of them or the toddler pool. The resort also had a nice sized outdoor skating rink. Jon impressed me with his skating skills... and Solly and Margo didn't do so bad either. Mira watched from the sidelines with a sucker.
Mt. Bachelor was great fun for Jon and Solly. Margo did a little skiing but wasn't interested in skiing the entire day. She came back and watched cartoons while Mira napped and then we hit the pools in the afternoon. We also got to do a little snowshoeing and see their big cousin Miranda and her new boyfriend. All in all a great little getaway from T-town in February... and the endless grey rain. The first thing Margo said as we drove into Bend was, "How can it be so sunny and so snowy all at the same time". That is exactly why people love Bend!
